An Ode to The Queen of Minimalist Chic

Caroline Bessette was the tall, willowy blonde who quickly became Calvin Klein’s style muse and embodied the 90’s aesthetic of down paired down minimalism.

And she was applauded for it on both sides of the Atlantic. Fashion magazine editors fell for her stylish and minimalistic approach to dressing.

Caroline became the poster girl of many designers and her sense of dressing was copied throughout the world.

She was an unusual cocktail: hip, cool and sophisticated all rolled into one.

It is interesting to note when looking at images of Caroline today, how current her dress sense still is. And how much I covet those tailored clean lines, beautiful fabrics and clothing that is so elegant and timeless.

Many regarded Caroline Bessette Kennedy as the luckiest woman on the planet as she married the sexiest man on earth and the heir to Camelot, John Kennedy Junior in 1996.

Caroline turned the fashion world on its head with the simple yet sophisticated bias cut silk slip dress she wore to her own wedding.

Little known designer, Narciso Rodriguez, had created an international fashion sensation by dressing Caroline in a simple slip dress.

The slip dress quickly became the must-have dress of the later 90’s for weddings or just on the street.

The effortless beauty and restrained elegance of Caroline caught close up on camera.

The fashion world will continue to pay homage to her incredible dress sense and style.
