Over 700,000 people visit the tennis centre over the two weeks of the tournament to chill out for a day or week, watching tennis balls go back and forth.
The weather can be quite unpredictable. A few years ago it was a mere 19 degrees during much of the first week! The previous year, players were fainting as it was over 40 degrees on the courts.
Being the first Grand Slam title of the tennis season, big name players are always keen to win the tournament to write their names further into the history book.

Roger Federer has cheekily announced… a 36 year old shouldn’t be expected to win the tournament and his 20th Grand Slam Tournament. This man always underplays how much of a champion he is!! And don’t we love him for it. All of Melbourne wants him to take home his sixth Australian Open.
